A public affairs professional based in Alexandria, VA, Curt Cashour has led communication campaigns from concept to completion for a host of organizations, politicians and public figures.

As deputy assistant secretary for public affairs with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, he oversaw a team of nearly 350 public affairs staff and led VA’s ChooseVA marketing campaign. Additionally, Cashour directed VA’s communications response to the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing responses to more than 2,000 local and national media inquiries. Mr. Cashour previously served as VA’s chief spokesman, guiding VA officials in media interactions that resulted in positive coverage and strategic outcomes.

Earlier in his career, he gained speechwriting and photojournalism experience as a public affairs specialist in the United States Army. While deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, he provided public affairs support to the ground commander of coalition forces.

He holds a bachelor of science in interpersonal communication from Ohio University in Athens.
